Zirconia Implant
Placement of ceramic dental implants
The different materials constituting dental implants:
We primarily offer titanium dental implants, as this material is widely used in the market. In particular, we favor Swiss “premium” brand dental implants, which are made from commercially pure titanium. In comparison, conventional brands use a titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V), which includes other materials such as aluminum and vanadium.
At Névé Dental Clinic, we mainly use Straumann brand dental implants, known for their “premium” quality and commercially pure titanium construction.
Titanium has a key feature: it allows bone cells to attach to it, a process called osseointegration. Thanks to this, the implants are securely anchored in the jawbone, supporting the significant forces required for chewing.
Titanium is also a biocompatible material, meaning it is well accepted by the body. It does not corrode and does not trigger an immune response, except in rare cases of allergy. As a result, the body does not reject titanium implants.
Zirconia dental implants, an alternative?
We also offer zirconia dental implants. These implants are made of zirconium oxide ceramic. Zirconia has the same property as titanium in allowing bone cells to attach to it: osseointegration. Thus, zirconia implants provide strong fixation in the jaw and allow for the necessary chewing forces, just like titanium implants.
Zirconia is a biocompatible material. It is well accepted by the body, does not corrode, and does not trigger an immune response. In other words, the body does not reject zirconia.
Furthermore, zirconia has no electrical charge or conductivity. Its natural white color makes it more aesthetic. Additionally, it allows for reduced bacterial adhesion and better gum attachment.
In conclusion, zirconia implants are an alternative to titanium implants, offering better gum attachment and excellent aesthetic and biocompatible properties.
When to choose Zirconia dental implants?
Zirconia dental implants are an alternative to titanium dental implants. Indeed, they offer better soft tissue (gum) attachment, better biocompatibility, and superior aesthetics, while providing comparable osseointegration.
Additionally, they are mainly chosen by patients who desire the latest technological advancements or who refuse to have titanium in their bodies.
Thus, we can use zirconia dental implants if you wish. Feel free to discuss this option with our team to see if it is the best choice for you.

How much does a zirconia dental implant cost?
For a zirconia dental implant with its ceramic crown, the fee is CHF 3675.-
The cost depends on the type of tooth, the bone and gingival volume. Your oral surgeon will provide an estimate during the first consultation.
