Zirconia dental implant
The different materials making up dental implants
Most dental implants available on the market are made of titanium.
Dental implants from “premium” Swiss brand are made of commercially pure titanium, while conventional brands are made of titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V), this means that they contain other materials such as aluminum and vanadium.
At Neve dental clinic, we mainly use Straumann brand dental implants, “premium” brand in commercially pure titanium.
Titanium has the particularity of allowing bone cells to attach to it. It is the process of osseointegration. This allows a strong fixation of the implants in the jaw and the application of significant forces necessary for chewing.
Titanium is a biocompatible material, which means that it is well accepted by the body. It does not exhibit corrosion and does not trigger the body’s immune response, except in rare cases of allergy. It is not rejected by the body.
When to choose Zirconia dental implant?
Zirconia dental implants are an alternative to titanium dental implants with better attachment of soft tissue (gum), better biocompatibility and aesthetics, with comparable osseointegration.
They are mainly chosen by patients who want the latest technological advances or who refuse to have titanium in their body.
We can use zirconia dental implant if you wish.
