Immediate loading implant
What is immediate loading?
Dental implants require a healing time of 3 months before putting the prosthesis in place and depending on it (osseointegration time).
During this period, the patient needs a temporary solution in order to be able to have a normal social life.
Temporary solutions exist but they are not always very comfortable: a bonded bridge presents the risk of detachment, a removable prosthesis presents difficulties in pronunciation and is very uncomfortable.
In some cases, the immediate placement of a fixed temporary prosthesis can be performed directly on the day of implant placement: this is immediate loading.
This procedure allows the extraction, implantation and placement of the prosthesis in one session.
In this case, the patient comes with his teeth locked and leaves the office with the fixed prosthesis on the implants.
This procedure is well described and codified, certain precautions must be taken, but it is by far the most comfortable and does not present much risk.
When can we load immediately?
Mainly, we can carry out this procedure in two cases:
- Replacement of a missing tooth in the aesthetic zone (front tooth, visible when smiling: incisor, canine, premolar). The hopeless tooth is removed, a dental implant is placed and a screw-retained temporary crown is put in place at the end of the intervention or during the day. This procedure is comfortable and aesthetic.
Clinical case of immediate loading : 1 tooth – In 1 day
- Replacement of all teeth on a dental arch. All teeth are removed, approximately 6 dental implants are placed and a screwed temporary bridge is placed at the end of the intervention or during the day. This procedure is comfortable and aesthetic.
Clinical case of full arch immediate loading – In 1 day
Advantages of immediate loading
With the temporary removable devices, the patient is severely handicapped in his social life and for chewing.
With this immediate loading protocol, the patient retains comfort and aesthetics even during the healing phase.
